How do I choose between a chemical scrubber, biofilter, and carbon adsorber?
Chemical scrubbers fit high, variable, or spiking contaminant loads that respond to a chemical neutralizing agent. Biofilters fit steady, moderate H2S loads where low operating cost and minimal chemical handling matter most. Carbon adsorbers work best as a polishing stage downstream of a scrubber or biofilter, or standalone for low-CFM vent/manhole applications.
What is the difference between APOLLO, OMEGA, and ODYSSEY scrubber configurations?
APOLLO is counter-current vertical flow (best gas-liquid contact, needs vertical clearance). OMEGA is cross-current horizontal flow (best when vertical clearance is limited). ODYSSEY is bidirectional flow, balancing contact time against footprint constraints.
When do odor control systems need multiple stages?
Difficult-to-treat applications often need staging — a biotrickling filter roughing stage for elevated H2S followed by a biofilter second stage for organic sulfides/VOCs, or a carbon adsorber running downstream of a chemical scrubber as a polishing stage.
What information does a real odor/fume control spec review need?
